Infrastructure works-

 The Mareeba Shire Council has completed a mixture of Parks and Gardens maintenance, Survey, Project Management as well as bridge works during the month of February.

“The design has been prepared and being reviewed for Anzac Avenue and Ceola Drive, while the formation width is being amended to allow for cyclists and future planning on McIver Road.  The Mareeba Swimming Pool car park upgrade design plans have been provided to user groups as part of consultation and further concept plans are being drafted,” Mayor Tom Gilmore said.

“Parks and Gardens has carried out general repairs and maintenance at the Bi-Centennial Lakes, Pony Club, Dimbulah, Centenary Park, Davies Park, Mareeba. General repairs and maintenance has also been carried out on Kuranda Parks, Library, CBD and streets,” Mayor Gilmore said.

“The installation of an underground electrical conduit at Therwine Street in preparation for the undergrounding of power commenced in November. My congratulations to the council workforce for their efforts in very trying conditions. The work extends the full length of Therwine Street from the intersection of Coondoo Street to the bottom of Therwine Street. Works were completed in early February. Ergon will commence installing cabling through the new conduit in March,” Cr Gilmore said.

“Works commenced on the upgrading of the existing intersection of Monaro Close and Oak Forest Road in early February. the project scope includes the widening of the existing pavement, extending the existing box culverts and the provision of an asphalt seal,” Cr Gilmore said.

Construction was completed at the end of February. It is anticipated that line marking will be installed in the second week of March.
