Mareeba Animal Refuge (Pound and Refuge Facility)
Council’s pound, known as the Mareeba Animal Refuge, is located at 35 Hickling Avenue Maeeba and is operated by Friends of the Animals. The staff at the refuge have many years’ experience between them in the care of animals.
Animals found wandering at large are taken to the refuge if the animal is not currently registered or has been previously impounded. Animals must be reclaimed within the legislative timeframe and will only be released after full payment of impound and sustenance fees. All dogs must be microchipped and registered prior to release.
If you are interested in adopting an animal or volunteering at the Refuge you can visit the Mareeba Animal Refuge website or phone 4092 3060 for further information.
