Mareeba Animal Refuge (Pound and Refuge Facility)
The Mareeba Animal Refuge is located at 35 Hickling Avenue Mareeba and is operated by Friends of the Animals Inc (FOTA).
FOTA lease the animal management facility from Mareeba Shire Council to operate the not for profit Mareeba Animal Refuge at the facility. FOTA operate independently of Mareeba Shire Council and operate a boarding and rehoming business from this location.
Mareeba Shire Council do impound and hold animals in this facility, and they are cared for in the facility by Friends of the Animals Inc. The FOTA staff at the refuge have many years’ experience between them in the care of animals.

Impounded Animals
Animals found wandering at large are taken to the Mareeba Animal Refuge if the animal is not currently registered or has been previously impounded. Animals must be reclaimed within the legislative timeframe and will only be released after full payment of impound and sustenance fees. All dogs must be microchipped and registered prior to release.
