Mareeba Shire Council is assisting with the recruitment of a Visitor Information Centre Manager to join the team at the Kuranda Visitor Information Centre (KVIC). The Visitor Information Centre Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the KVIC including management of the centre, staff and volunteers and providing services to meet set objectives.
The position assists the Mareeba Shire Council Tourism & Economic Development Officer with tourism marketing and promotion for Kuranda and the Mareeba Shire. The Visitor Information Centre Manager will be required to work closely with the Mareeba Shire Tourism local tourism organisation board.
The KVIC is open seven days a week and receives higher visitor numbers on weekends compared to weekdays. As such, the ordinary working week for the Visitor Information Centre Manager is five days from Thursday to Monday to provide weekend coverage.
What we are looking for:
- You will have well-developed skills to recruit, train, supervise and support volunteers
- You will have high-level communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills including the ability to develop effective partnerships with community, business, government and tourism industry stakeholders
- You will have well-developed skills in financial management and administration including the ability to monitor budgets and manage a tourism product and retail facility
- You will have a detailed knowledge of local and regional tourism and the role of visitor information services, or the demonstrated ability to quickly acquire this

- Permanent, full-time position
- Ordinary days of work are Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
- Salary range of $70,000 – $80,000 per annum, subject to qualifications and experience
