Thanks to funding from the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, Mareeba Shire Council will deliver a range of community resilience and recovery activities over the next 12 months.
Mareeba Shire Mayor Angela Toppin explained that Council’s aim is to establish a strong, sustainable community network that can provide vital support before and during disaster events as well as helping communities recover more quickly.
“The community resilience and recovery activities will have a local-level focus, empowering residents, businesses and community groups to work together, share resources and prepare for the future,” said Mayor Toppin.
