The role
The Recovery & Resilience Administration Officer provides administrative and engagement support to the Local Disaster Management team. This position supports the team to enhance community disaster response and resilience capabilities through various programs and initiatives. Working closely with the Disaster Management Officer, you will help establish a Community Resilience Network and implement the Mareeba Shire Know Your Risk initiative, aimed at building long-term community preparedness, response and recovery through proactive education and engagement.
This role will see you working in the Local Disaster Coordination Centre before, during and after disaster events, providing accurate recovery and resilience resources to the community and connecting individuals with relevant disaster support. You will be kept busy preparing information for meetings and presentations, managing correspondence and customer service requests and assisting in financial and qualitative reporting as required under the funding agreement.
This is a temporary, full-time position to 31 March 2027 and is funded under the Queensland and Australian Government’s Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of administrative expertise and a passion for community service, particularly in disaster management contexts. You will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. You will have:
- A current Queensland C class driver’s license
- Significant experience in an administration role within a large organisation
- Highly developed skills in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
- Strong organisational abilities with a self-motivated approach to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in community service delivery and disaster response is desirable but not mandatory
