Ergon will be carrying out LED streetlighting upgrade works along Lower Coondoo Street (the train station end), as part of Mareeba Shire Council’s Coondoo Street lighting improvement program.
Start Date: Monday, 18 August 2025
Duration: Approx. 4–6 weeks
Works will begin at the lower end of Coondoo Street before progressing to the central area below the Thongon Street intersection. This project includes:
- Replacement of existing light poles
- Installation of underground power connections at two locations
Please Note: Parking will be affected in some areas, which will be cordoned off for work vehicles as needed.
Power Outages:
To energise the new power connections, planned power outages of approx. 5–6 hours will be required. These will be staggered and affect both the north and south sides of Lower and Upper Coondoo Street at different times.
Ergon will notify impacted businesses 10 business days prior to any scheduled outages.
