Constance Street Sewer Main Project – Now Underway

Constance Street Sewer Main Project – Now Underway

Council has commenced works on the Sewer Main Project along the full length of Constance St, with construction expected to continue for approximately 50 weeks until approximately September 2026.

Initial construction is moving south from Herberton Street toward a sewer manhole in the vacant lot at the southern end of Constance Street.

Traffic control will be in place from 6:30am to 6:30pm weekdays, and some Saturday mornings as needed.

Minor driveway access disruptions may occur, but every effort will be made to minimise impacts.

Toilet use will remain unaffected for residents. If any temporary service interruptions are necessary, affected households will be notified in advance by Council or the contractor.

Replacing ageing sewer main infrastructure is critical to reduce the likelihood of sewerage overflows, which is a real issue for health, the community and the environment. Upgrading this infrastructure is an important step in protecting the Barron River which runs out to the Great Barrier Reef.

This upgrade connects to the Kenneally Road Gravity Sewer Main.

We appreciate your patience as this important infrastructure upgrade progresses. Stay tuned for updates throughout the project.

This project is proudly supported by the Queensland Government through the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program and Mareeba Shire Council.
