New Toilet Facility for Mareeba CBD

Mareeba Shire Council wishes to advise planned work to construct a new toilet facility in the central business district (CBD) of Mareeba. The work will commence on Monday 8 May 2023, and Council anticipates that this new facility will be in operation from August, weather permitting.

Council identified the requirement for the provision of safe and accessible toilets within the CBD and Mareeba Mayor Angela Toppin has welcomed this brand-new facility.

“This new facility will consist of rendered block construction with an angled sloped roof and will house two unisex cubicles, with one cubicle being an accessible toilet.”

The new toilet facility will be constructed in the Mareeba Post Office car park and will replace the facilities located at the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) Women’s Rest Room site, located on Byrnes Street, which will be closed once the new toilets are completed.

“Council recognises the historical importance of the QCWA building and has made the building available for rent through Council’s Real Estate Agent.”

“Council has reached out to the Post Office tenants to advise about the upcoming project as it will affect pedestrian and car movements at the rear of the car park. Signs will be installed to advise of the changes,” Mayor Angela Toppin concluded.
Mareeba Shire Council appreciates your patience during this project. For further information, please phone Council on 1300 308 461.

For more information on the renting of the QCWA building, please contact Council’s Real Estate Agent, Mareeba Property Office, via phone: (07) 4092 1355 or email: sales@mpo.net.au.
