Mareeba Shire Council is inviting Julatten and Mt Molloy residents and ratepayers to have their say on the future of Geraghty Park, Julatten, as part of an exciting upgrade.
The existing play equipment at Geraghty Park has reached the end of its useful life and will be removed.
Council is now seeking community input on what should replace it — a new playground OR a pump track.
Mareeba Shire Mayor Angela Toppin said that parks play an important role in the wellbeing of communities.
“Mareeba Shire Council acknowledges the positive social value that parks bring to our towns, which is why we developed the Parks and Open Spaces Action Plan to revitalise public spaces across the Shire,” Mayor Toppin said.
“We want to hear from the community and whether they would prefer a new playground or a pump track at Geraghty Park.
Mayor Toppin added that both options have strong community benefits, but only one option will be built based on the feedback from the survey.
“Playgrounds provide important opportunities for young children to play and develop, while the pump tracks recently built in Dimbulah and Mareeba have been well received and actively used by a range of community members.”
Julatten and Mt Molloy residents and ratepayers are encouraged to complete the short community survey available on Mareeba Shire Council’s website by Sunday, 7 September 2025.
If residents would like further information, please contact Council’s Communities Team on 1300 308 461 or email communitywellbeing@msc.qld.gov.au.
