A Sunwater pipeline has unexpectedly broken today, resulting in some residents and businesses experiencing low water pressure or temporary loss of water supply.
Dimbulah’s water reservoir is currently at 23% capacity, and water pressure remains very low.
What is happening:
- The Sunwater team has implemented a temporary repair and now have water moving through the system, but it will take some time this morning for the water to fully reach Council’s reservoir, potentially 1pm
- Additional water overnight will be released
Both Sunwater and Council will monitor the situation closely
Mareeba Shire Council is asking all residents to conserve water for ESSENTIAL USE ONLY until further notice.
Essential use includes:
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Personal hygiene
Please DO NOT use water for:
- Gardens or lawns
- Washing vehicles
- Any non-essential activities
Water pressure will remain low until additional water is released and repairs are completed.
