The role
The Fabricator/ Labourer performs quality design and fabrication tasks to upkeep, maintain and improve Council infrastructure within the Water Reticulation workgroup. This may at times involve working with teams across other Council workgroups.
The role involves physically demanding work to be undertaken in a hot and humid climate on a daily basis. The Fabricator/ Fitter must ensure they are and remain physically fit and able to efficiently and consistently undertake these tasks. This includes a requirement to maintain their weight at or below the Safe Working Load (SWL) limit for the seat of the machinery and equipment the position is required to operate.
The position is required to assist with after-hours work and be part of an on-call support roster for the water and waste section.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fabrication and labouring, demonstrating both autonomy and teamwork. We are looking for an individual who has the technical skills necessary to resolve fabrication issues and contribute to the effective maintenance of water and waste services. The ideal applicant will have:
- A current Queensland MR driver’s licence or willingness to obtain one
- Demonstrated experience as a special class welder
- Working at Heights and Confined Space training or willingness to complete this training
- Possession of a Queensland Construction Industry White Card
- Experience with maintaining water reticulation infrastructure and/ or a trade qualification in Structural Steel Fabrication and welding will be highly regarded
