Council has secured funding (Kuranda Infrastructure Agreement Fund) to build a playground within the site of the Old Kuranda State School. This project provides the opportunity to also plan for a multi-age recreational space for the community to enjoy that can be funded over time.
The close proximity of the old school site lends itself to catering for multiple age groups.
It is anticipated the new playground construction will commence during 2026.
Council is gathering community input to ensure the new playground and multi-age recreational space incorporates the elements residents would most like to see.
