Mareeba Shire is gearing up to celebrate our senior residents in October as part of Queensland Seniors Month!

“Mareeba Shire Council will once again host the highly anticipated Seniors Morning Tea at the Mareeba International Club on Friday, 24 October 2025. Bookings will open Tuesday, 23 September and more details will be released soon,” said Mareeba Shire Mayor Angela Toppin.

In the lead-up to the event, Council is inviting local service organisations to participate in a Services Expo.

“We are calling on services interested in hosting an information stall in the foyer between 9 am and 10 am, before the Mareeba Morning Tea, to connect with our senior residents,” said Mayor Toppin.

This event is supported by the Queensland Government and the Council on the Ageing Queensland.

Applications are now open. Spaces are limited so please apply as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

Grants available to Host Your Own Seniors Morning or Afternoon Tea

Mareeba Shire Council is also offering a grant opportunity for community organisations and schools to apply for up to $500 to host their own Seniors Morning or Afternoon Tea event.

Applications open today, 5 September and close Monday, 15 September 2025.

“The Seniors Morning Tea Grant Program is for community groups located outside of Mareeba township. We want to support celebrations in other areas of our Shire so more senior residents are included,” said Mayor Toppin.

Please note that funding is limited and the applications will be competitive.
