Mareeba Library’s local history event, One Story at a Time, returns with Colin Hooper, the author of Angor to Zillmanton: Stories of North Queensland’s Deserted Towns.
Colin will be presenting Smelters of Mareeba Shire on September 19, from 10:30 am to 12:00pm at the Mareeba Library.
Colin’s talk will include his fascinating and extensive research on smelters in the Mareeba district, which notes that New Northcote was the first smelter in Mareeba. A booklet containing Colin’s research will be available to take home on the day of the event. Also presenting is our very own local author and historian, Mary Thompson.
