Thank you for visiting the community consultation page.

Mareeba Shire Council welcomes general feedback at anytime, please contact us.

Council has secured funding (Kuranda Infrastructure Agreement Fund) to build a playground within the site of the Old Kuranda State School. This project provides the opportunity to also plan for a multi-age recreational space for the community to enjoy that can be funded over time.

The close proximity of the old school site lends itself to catering for multiple age groups.

It is anticipated the new playground construction will commence during 2026.

Council is gathering community input to ensure the new playground and multi-age recreational space incorporates the elements residents would most like to see.

KURANDA COMMUNITY PRECINCT SURVEY

Mareeba Shire Council is inviting Mareeba Shire residents to provide feedback on whether to retain or remove the pedestrian safety installations on Ceola Drive, Mareeba.

The installations were put in place as part of the “Lighter, Affordable, Effective” project in 2024 which aimed to enhance the walking and cycling experience of residents and creating a continuous and safe route in Mareeba.

While the feedback for most of the sites around town has been positive, the response for the Ceola Drive installations has been mixed. Councillors are weighing the reduction in drivers speeding against the community’s response and are inviting the community to help guide decision-making about whether it should be removed or retained.

📝 The survey is open to all Mareeba Shire residents and is now open until Sunday, 19 October.

If residents would like further information, please contact Council’s Communities team on 1300 308 461 or email communitywellbeing@msc.qld.gov.au.

The Mareeba LAE Project is proudly supported by the Queensland Government’s Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program.
