Requesting an Interment
Interment in Council Cemeteries
Council approval must be granted prior to interment of human remains and ashes in Council cemeteries. Interments are conducted between 8am and 3pm Monday to Friday. Fees and Charges apply.
Council provides interment services for the interment of ashes in the columbarium wall, lawn plaque on beam, lawn headstone on beam, Angels Rest and columbarium ground. To request interment of ashes in these sections, families should contact Council and complete and submit an Application to Inter Human Remains no later than two business days prior to the interment date.
All other interments in Council cemeteries should be arranged through a private funeral director. The funeral director will assist you to complete relevant interment application forms and submit them to Council on your behalf.
Scattering Ashes
Ashes may not be scattered in Council cemetery. Approval for scattering ashes outside of a Council cemetery is not required.
Interment on Private Land
Council approval must be granted prior to interment of human remains outside of a Council cemetery. An Application for a Private Land Interment must be submitted for approval.
Exhumation
Council approval must be granted prior to the exhumation of human remains. An Application for Exhumation of Human Remains or Cremated Remains must be submitted for approval.
