Everyone is invited to a Dinner and Disaster, a free community event this Friday as part of Get Ready Queensland.

The event will feature the screening of Stories of Jasper… Three Years On, a documentary that revisits the impact of Tropical Cyclone Jasper and explores the recovery journey of local residents, communities and services following the devastating weather event in December 2023.

The trailer is now available to view below.

Running from 4pm, the event will provide an opportunity for residents to connect with local emergency services and disaster management agencies ahead of the upcoming severe weather season.

Attendees will be able to speak directly with emergency service personnel, access disaster preparedness resources and learn practical tips on developing emergency plans, preparing disaster kits and staying informed during emergencies.

The documentary offers a powerful reflection on the experiences of those affected by Cyclone Jasper, highlighting the lessons learned and the resilience shown by communities across the region in the years since the disaster.

Following the documentary screening, families can enjoy a free showing of the popular animated DreamWorks film The Wild Robot.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the evening from the Mareeba Drive-In Café.
