Residents, businesses and community groups across the Mareeba Shire are invited to help shape the future of local disaster preparedness by contributing to Mareeba Shire Council’s Community Resilience Plans.
Council’s Disaster and Resilience Team is developing the plans to strengthen community preparedness, improve communication and support networks and identify practical actions that will help build safer and more resilient communities across the region
Mareeba Shire Mayor Angela Toppin encouraged community members to take part in the consultation activities and share their knowledge.
“Residents have a wealth of experience that is invaluable in understanding the risks our communities face and identifying practical ways to improve resilience,” Mayor Toppin said.
“Whether you want to share your first-hand experience from a natural disaster, own a local business or simply want to contribute, we encourage you to come along and have your say.”
Community members are invited to attend workshops, visit pop-up consultation sessions, or chat with Council officers during business and community visits.
