Submit your footage in the Disaster Footage Competition for the chance to win an emergency kit.
Submission may be featured in the Stories of Jasper follow up film which will be premiered later this year!
Prizes:
1st place: Emergency kit (Valued at approx. $250)
2nd Place: Emergency essentials kit (Valued at approx. $100)
Eligibility
- The competition is open to any community members who have taken a disaster related photo within the Mareeba Shire region
- Entries must be original photos or recordings taken by the entrant within MSC boundaries depicting disaster events, response efforts or community resilience and recovery
Submission Guidelines
- Entries must be submitted in jpg, png, mp4, mov or hevc format
- Entries should be uploaded in their full and original format
- Stock images and clip art are not eligible
- All entries must be original and taken using a camera (digital, film or phone)
- Entries must not include watermarks, frames or branding
- Participants confirm they hold full rights to submitted images and recordings and consent of any depicted individuals
- AI generated images are prohibited
Closing Date
- The competition closes at 5pm Thursday, 20 August 2026
Winner Selection and Announcement
- Winning entries will be selected by MSC Officers based on relevance to the theme and overall impact
- Winners of an emergency kit will be notified via the contact details provided by Friday, 4 September 2026
- If a winner does not respond within five working days of being contacted they will forfeit the prize and a new winner may be selected
