Mareeba Shire Council has set the dates for the 2023/24 Free Green Waste Disposal Days. This is for clean uncontaminated domestic quantities of green waste only. Multiple loads will be accepted on these days.

What will be accepted: clean residential green waste, including:
- Grass clippings
- Pruning’s
- Leaves
- Small Branches, up 100mm in diameter
What will not be accepted:
- Commercial loads
- Waste or hard rubbish
- Soil

Fire danger season property preparedness tips:
- Slash or mow undergrowth (grasses and weeds) within 20 meters of dwellings and other structures and fire breaks around the property’s boundaries.
- Clear gutters of accumulated leaf litter.
- Trim or modify vegetation to ensure clearance of structures, not up against walls or overhanging, remove ladder fuels (between knee to eye) to keep fire on the ground.
- Remove other accumulated dead vegetation (fallen leaves, bark etc) from around assets.
