E-Waste Trial in Mareeba

By May 23, 2017March 12th, 2019No Comments

Council is trialling an exciting new recycling project at the Mareeba Transfer Station for e-waste. E-waste contains products that can be recycled and are not harmful to the environment. At least 90% of the materials in e-waste can be recovered!

The following items will be accepted for recycling, free of charge:

  • Desktop and laptop computers and cables
  • Tablets and notebooks
  • Computer monitors and parts (eg. internal hard drives and CD drives)
  • Computer peripherals and accessories (eg. keyboards, web cameras, USBs and modems)
  • Printers, faxes, scanners and multi-functional devices
  • All televisions

Please note that broken e-waste will not be accepted for recycling (eg. no broken screens).

Council will run the trial for six months to determine the community demand for the service.
