Council’s pound is operated under an agreement with Friends of the Animals and is known as Mareeba Animal Refuge and is situated on Adil Road Mareeba.  Mareeba Animal Refuge  is currently run and managed by Jennifer Walsh, who has many years’ experience in the care of animals.

Stray animals are taken to the refuge, if owners cannot be identified or contacted. Animals must be reclaimed within three working days and will only be released after full payment of impounding and sustenance fees. All dogs must be registered prior to release.
